As the Gene-xpress moved on, we watched a video on Punnett Square to understand the pattern in passing of characteristics from parent to offspring and discussed our responses from last home assignment (Link was provided in the assignment).

Integration with ICT - We co-constructed an assessment rubric for our formative assessment on the first Line of Inquiry, on Quizziz.com. We discussed and wrote the criteria that would be used to assess ourselves.
The following day, we attempted an online quiz on inheritance in Quizziz.com. We participated in a cut-and-paste activity which involved use of three parts of a nucleotide - phosphate, deoxyribose sugar and nitrogen base, on an A3 sheet to form the DNA’s strands. We also analysed the mistakes in a printout of a section of DNA’s double helix and discussed them. These activities helped us to reinforce our understanding of the DNA structure.
Integration with English – We wrote a piece of descriptive writing as part of homework, where we had to imagine ourselves to be a ‘micro-traveller’ on a ride of the DNA strands.
Reflection - We wrote what we are enjoying, learning and find challenging in our PYP exhibition journals.
Finding Out- We visited the Secondary library to collect information about the 2nd Line of Inquiry. Our mentor helped us to choose the appropriate book and pages for the same. We created our own fact sheets based on what we read in the printed content. Using the fact sheets, we displayed our understanding through a concept map, utilising one of the visible thinking routines, from the options of Generate-Sort-Connect-Elaborate, Compass Points and Claim Support Reflect.
We have started working towards creating our group’s DNA model using available resources.

We want to know about ‘mutations’, a term that we came across during our research findings.

The train moves on……
